Meeting the basic needs of children 0-18
We provide new and gently used clothing, shoes, hygiene products, baby supplies, and other essential items—completely free of charge. By meeting these basic needs, we not only support the well-being of each child but also help ease the financial burden on families and caregivers.
Our goal is to ensure every child we serve feels loved, valued, and worthy. Through care and practical support, we aim to spark a sense of self-worth and belonging in every child we reach.
Because every child deserves to feel safe, valued, and loved.
Many families in our community struggle to provide basic necessities like clothing, shoes, or hygiene products. Threads steps in to fill those gaps, at no cost to families. When you care, you help us restore dignity, confidence, and hope to children who need it most.
“I no longer worry about diapers or other essentials. They’ve helped so much with caring for my boys.”

Your support—whether through donations, volunteering, or simply spreading the word—makes a real difference. It tells a child:
You matter.
You are not forgotten.
You are worthy of love and care.

Making a difference in the lives of local children
Threads and More is built entirely by people just like you—caring and thoughtful individuals who want to make a difference in the lives of local children. We’re a 100% volunteer-run organization, made up of everyday people who saw a need and chose to step in.
Parents, teachers, students, neighbors, business owners—our community is full of people who care deeply and are showing up to help. When you support Threads, you’re becoming part of a growing network of kindness, generosity, and connection.
Here’s how we deliver on our mission at Threads
- We collect donations of new and like-new used clothing, hygiene products, baby supplies, and more from generous individuals, businesses, and community drives.
- Our volunteers sort and organize every item by hand, ensuring quality, cleanliness, and dignity in every piece we give.
- We partner with trusted local agencies and organizations to identify children in need. Eligible children must live in Roscommon or Crawford Counties, be ages 0–18, and either be referred by a local agency or currently placed in foster, kinship, or relative care.
- Every item is given free of charge, directly to the child or family. We believe every child deserves to feel valued, and every family deserves support without added stress and barriers.
- When a request comes in, we respond—quickly and thoughtfully. Children are invited to shop at our closet, or a Threads volunteer will shop for the child based on their specific needs and preferences.
Our process is …
Personal.
Hands-on.
Completely fueled by volunteers and community support.
“Threads has been an amazing partner in helping meet the needs of our students. They respond quickly and are very flexible.
“Threads has played an integral part in helping us find clothing and other resources for our students in need. They have provided winter coats, snow pants, and other needed clothing items.”

Because YOU cared enough to do something
You’ve made life a little easier for a child who’s been through more than most. It just feels good to help someone—especially when you know it’s real and local and making a difference right now. You’ll know that a baby has diapers, a teen has clothes that help them feel a little more confident, and parents are less overwhelmed—all because you cared enough to do something.

Every item and dollar donated goes directly to helping kids in need right here in Roscommon and Crawford Counties.
Threads works closely with trusted local agencies, schools, and families, and we’ve built relationships based on reliability, respect, and care. When someone reaches out, we show up.
